Entries will be open between 1st December 2017 (midnight) - 17th May 2018 (12noon), unless full prior to this.

Welcome to our second coaching and familiarisation day. This day will focus on the fundemental skills of swimming, cycling and running. 

There are 3 sessions you are able to choose from; open water swimming coaching, road cycling coaching and running coaching. Together, these will make up the principles of triathlon training, through coaching.

Coaches

John Wood is the lead coach for this day. Keith Bradshaw will be leading the South West Swim Coaching Session. 

Swimming Coaching Session - 1 hour, 10:00am, age 16+.

Points that will be covered;

  • Putting on a wetsuit
  • Water familiarisation
  • In water confidence
  • Body positioning
  • Breathing
  • Race starts
  • Swimming turns
  • Swim sighting
  • Exiting the open water
  • Wetsuit removal

South West Triathlon Series Swimming Coaching Session - 1 hour, 11:00am - 12:00am age 8 - 16 only.

Points that will be covered;

  • Putting on a wetsuit
  • Water familiarisation
  • In water confidence
  • Body positioning
  • Breathing
  • Race starts
  • Swimming turns
  • Swim sighting
  • Exiting the open water
  • Wetsuit removal

Cycling Coaching Session - 1 hour, 11:30pm, age 16+.

Points that will be covered; 

  • Bike set up, including what you should have in a race
  • Steady spinning in a group
  • Road skills, signalling, cornering, gearing and braking
  • Different riding groups, depending on ability
  • Aerobar riding
  • Mount & dismount practice

Running Coaching Session - 1 hour, 13:00pm, age 16+.

Points that will be covered;

  • Run biomechanics
  • Warming up
  • Running drills
  • Short interval running
  • Stength, conditioning & stability
  • Training principles for running

If you wish to take part in any of these sessions, please follow the entry process at the top of the screen, and select the appropriate session or sessions. You will need to input some details, as you are effectively entering an event.

There will be a 20 - 30 minute break between sessions, this will be used for changing, resting and an interaction session between others in the group.
