Lizzie Rayner

My background:

I grew up as a swimmer and competed in my first triathlon aged 12 then several more when I was 16 but didn’t decide to commit seriously to the sport until I went to university in 2016.  In 2018 I won the English AG Sprint Triathlon Championships at Thorpe Park alongside winning four other triathlons that season and placing 17th at the British Universities Triathlon Championships and then running a 10k PB of 37:07, 5000m track PB of 17:49 and winning the Wiltshire 5 Mile Championships.  An injury kept me away from racing for the whole winter of 2018/19 so decided my focus for 2019 was just to regain strength and fitness and become healthy and happy again before committing to a full racing calendar so dabbled in a few races (winning the two triathlons I entered) with the intention of fully returning to the racing scene in 2020.

Season goals:

This year has already brought with it a new half marathon PB of 01:24:02 and I’m looking to improve on my 10k PB in the summer.  Most of my triathlon races this year are sprint and Olympic distances, with maybe a 70.3 race at some point (yet to be decided).  My goals for these races are to just swim, bike and run faster than I have before and hopefully take some more podium spots in 2020!
