News Update

Season Start 2019

Whilst i'm sure today marked the actual first day of spring, glorious sunshine and even a nice warm temperature, many of us got out for some fresh air.

We kick off 2019 with a slightly earlier than usual Smartt Smasher 10km race (off road) and 1.5km fun run. This event is organised by local triathlon club, Calne Smartt.

The event itself is very relaxed and pretty straight forward in terms of turning the cogs and getting your mind into event season again, which is why i like to start the season with this event. It's an out and back with a single start and finish line along the sustrans cycle track along the disused railwayline, which used to transport workers into the town to the Harris Factory back in the day.

For LPS Events, we have spent the last 3 months in the off season learning some new timing software, which will allow us to advance and provide much quicker results to athletes on the day of their race, it will also help to be more accurate. It is one of those things that is impossible to practice without a race, but its also difficult to provide a race without knowing how the timing software works.

All in all, we learnt a lot, runners were happy and most of all, the results service worked very well. Once we have got a few events under our belt with this software we will be looking into its more advanced features which showcase the live results to web and individual notifications, one step at a time though.

Our next event on the horizon will be a double header weekend, where we supply some infrastructure to The Mad March Hare and conduct the course set up for The Calne Rotary Bowood 10km event. Another great one to start as we love to explore the unfamiliar territories within the estate.

If you havnt yet planned your year, take a look at our calender and think about the finish line :)
